Three Welsh restaurants have been announced as winners in the first Nation's Curry Awards. The event celebrates and recognises the excellent standard, hard work and talent of businesses, chefs and restaurants in the UK's curry industry.
The categories included Chef of the Year, Vegetarian Restaurant of the Year and Best Customer Service. Ty Asha Balti House in Llanrwst was named Indian Restaurant of the Year Wales, Royal Balti in Barry was Takeaway of the Year Wales and Curry Scene in Caernarfon won the award for Curry Restaurant of the Year Wales.
Curry Scene took to Facebook to say: "We are delighted to announce that we have won The Curry Restaurant of the Year Wales !! I would like to thank everyone in our talented team at Curry Scene - Caernarfon and a special thank you from the bottom of our hearts for our lovely loyal customers who have been with us since the beginning and have continued to show us support throughout. Onwards and upwards."

Royal Balti also said: "Congratulations to the Team Royal Balti Barry. Winner of the Nation's Curry Awards 2023," before championing its head chef: "OUR HEAD CHEF: MR ASKOR ALI"
This isn't the first time the Royal Balti has been recognised for its food and service in the last year. In The Welsh Asian Food Awards 2022, it won in the best Indian Takeaway category as well as at the Curry Life Awards, where it won Best Curry Takeaway Award 2022.
A spokesperson for the awards noted: “It has been an unforgettable night, filled with incredible food, vibrant energy, and passionate conversations. We have celebrated the finest in the UK’s curry scene, recognising the creativity, innovation, and exceptional service that have become synonymous with this beloved cuisine.
“The UK’s curry industry is a vital part of our culture, and these awards recognised the exceptional talents of the individuals and businesses that make it so special. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees, and thank you to everyone who participated and supported this event.”
