The Waterboys at Iveagh Gardens: Travel, stage times, tickets, support acts and setlist

British-Irish folk rock band The Waterboys is coming to the Iveagh Gardens for two sold-out gigs later this week.

From their mid-1980s “big music” period through the influential mix of Celtic, gospel and country on their classic Fisherman’s Blues tours, the Waterboys music has had a popular reach.

Led by mercurial and brilliant Scottish guitarist-vocalist Mike Scott, the 2020 version of the band features the established line-up of Memphis keyboard great “Brother” Paul Brown, ace British drummer Ralph Salmins and funky Irish bassman Aongus Ralston.

The popular band will be performing this Thursday, July 13 and this Friday, July 14 in the Iveagh Gardens. Here's everything you need to know from what public transport is available, stage times and support acts, tickets, setlist, and weather.

Getting there

There is no car parking available at the event, but there are car parks dotted around the city centre. The closest is Q-Park at Stephens Green Shopping Centre. Pre-booking is available at q-park.ie .

The Iveagh Gardens is close to many public transport hubs thanks to its city centre location. Concert-goers can easily commute to the venue using Dublin Bus or the Luas.

The Luas Green Line is located a brief stroll away from the park- commuters should get off at either Harcourt or Stephen's Green. Dublin Bus routes that cater to the venue include the 15, the 16 and 39.

Plan your journey online from anywhere in Ireland via the journey planner found at transportforireland.ie.

Ticket information

Tickets for both gigs are sold out, but a few tickets might still pop up on resale via Ticketmaster. So it's advised to keep an eye out.

Remember, your phone is your ticket - you will have to make sure that you have the latest version of the Ticketmaster app and that you're logged in so that your ticket barcode can be scanned.

Stage times and support acts

Entry to the event will be via the Clonmel Street gate, which will open at 6.30pm. Early queuing is not permitted and concertgoers have been asked to respect the property and privacy of residents in the area.

Indie Musician from Dublin David Kitt will be opening the event.

Based on the timeline of the most recent Iveagh Gardens gig, Kaleo, it is likely that Kitt will start playing around 7:30pm and The Waterboys will start playing after 8:30pm.

Weather

Met Eireann is predicting that Thursday will be a "mix of sunny spells and showers", while Friday will be cloudier, with more persistent and potentially heavy outbreaks of rain for much of the country.
