The Wanted star Siva Kaneswaran is 'gutted' to miss Dancing On Ice this weekend due to illness.
The Irish singer and his professional partner Klabera Komini will not skate in this week's competition after he was advised to rest by medical professionals. The popstar, 34, has been struck down by a viral chest infection and will be unable to take to the ice on Sunday night.
"Due to illness Siva will not skate in this weekend's show," said a spokesperson for the ITV show. "We look forward to welcoming him back next weekend."
"I'm gutted that I won't be performing this weekend but I picked up a bug earlier in the week which I haven't been able to shake, so I need to rest and get myself better," he said on social media.
"Good luck to all the contestants this weekend - I'm looking forward to watching everyone's performances."
In a post on his Instagram Stories, he continued: '"Hi guys, I just want to say that I'm just so good that I can't perform this weekend. I got a viral infection in my chest and it just got worse and worse, I can't shake it.
"Wishing all the contestants good luck this weekend, on Sunday, you're going to do great, I'll be watching. Lots of love guys."
Siva previously said that his late bandmate Tom Parker was his inspiration behind taking part in the reality show. He said he wanted to carry on the fighting spirit that Parker showed during his illness.
Siva broke down as he paid tribute to his late The Wanted bandmate Tom Parker during the first episode of Dancing On Ice last month.
Tom died aged 33 last year after an 18 month battle with stage four glioblastoma brain cancer. Ahead of his first show with partner Klabera, Siva choked back tears and said: "I guess I'm still grieving' before revealing his friend's 'courage' inspired him to take part in the ITV show.
In the candid confessional, he admitted: "When I think about the past I think about tom, last year Tom…" before emotionally breaking off.
Before adding: "I guess I am still grieving, I witness his courage when he was fighting with his illness and it was so inspiring".
Dancing On Ice returns to ITV and ITVX on Sunday.
