THE WALRUS LAB CASE STUDY: SUPPLEMENT

Supplement: Commemorate Canada Special Supplements
Client: The Government of Canada
Timing: 2018-present

The Opportunity

Since 2018, we have worked with the Government of Canada’s Commemorate Canada program to produce four special print/digital supplements—both in English and French—highlighting key anniversaries in Canadian History. We have looked at the 50th anniversary of the Status of Women report, the history and impact of multiculturalism in Canada in 2021, and most recently, the 40th anniversary of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Our Approach

The Walrus Lab produces custom content in print and online, creating engaging stories for clients in a visually appealing and trustworthy, authentic manner. The content can be scaled for various lengths, and is seamlessly integrated into The Walrus magazine and website to have maximum impact on readers. We help make our client’s shine by telling success stories, and highlighting key priorities and important brand messages.

What we did

For all supplements, our team of writers, editors, hosts, fact-checkers, and designers produced work in both English and French. This resulted in bringing important stories into today’s context by highlighting leading historical personalities, and integrating key infographics to help educate Canadian readers about critical events in our history, bringing the stories into today’s context.

Results

The success of the supplements led to the launch of the new podcast, Canadian Time Machine, in 2022. Produced in English and French, the podcast features interviews with key foremost historians and cultural figures to tell important stories from key anniversaries.
