The Voice UK's Olly Murs admits audience backlash against new series decisions

Olly Murs has revealed that he and his fellow coaches on The Voice UK faced a backlash from audience members over decisions they made during filming for the new series.

Former X Factor runner-up Olly is on the ITV talent show for a fifth series, with him scoring his first mentoring win in 2019 when Molly Hocking won, before Blessing Chipata continued his winning streak a year later. Ciao Adios singer Anne- Marie was the winning coach in her debut year in 2021, when Craig Eddie topped the audience vote.

And, after a few years of coaches coming and going on The Voice, there are no changes to the line-up this time round, with Olly and Anne-Marie both returning, to once again sit alongside Will.I.Am and Tom Jones.

This Morning aired an exclusive behind the scenes look at The Voice's new series on Friday when presenter Josie Gibson went on et and it was during a chat with her, that Olly opened up on how vocal fans in the studio audience had been as cameras rolled, being very forthcoming with their disapproval at certain decisions.

Olly was asked what made him hit the red button, to which he told Josie: "It's kind of like that feeling, you just have it. I can't describe it; you hear an amazing voice and you just think god I've got to press my button."

He then added: "Sometimes we make mistakes and we get told that by the live audience." Reacting to that remark, Josie quizzed: "Ooh! Do they get angry?"

Olly added: "Yeah they get angry. They're like 'you should have pressed the button!"
