The Voice judge Anne-Marie in tears as Sir Tom Jones makes emotional tribute to late wife

The Voice star Anne-Marie was reduced to tears on set of the hit ITV talent show as Sir Tom Jones performed a song that he dedicated to his late wife.

The 31-year-old TV show judge – who topped the charts with Clean Bandit and Sean Paul with their song Rockabye – is back for season 11 of the hit ITV singing contest.

And the latest season includes an emotional performance from Sit Tom, 82, who dedicates a song to his wife, Melinda Trenchard, who died in 2016 at the age of 75.

The performance was so powerful that Anne-Marie was reduced to tears and forced to flee the set of the show to compose herself.

She told The Express: “Tom sang one of his songs called Crumble for his wife. And I had to walk off, not because it was bad, [but] because it was so emotional.”

She continued: “I think this is like a testament to him and why he has been able to stay around [for] so long because he feels every word he says and every song he releases he means it.

“And he was singing that song and he said, ‘This is to my wife’ and he just f****d me up.”

Anne-Marie will be hoping to maintain her winning streak on The Voice - having won last years’ competition after coaching Craig Eddie to victory.

Fellow judge Olly Murs, 38, had won the three seasons of the show before this - scooping the prize in 2018, 2019 and 2020 with contestants Ruti Olajugbagbe, Molly Hocking and Blessing Chitapa respectively.

Last year, Anne-Marie joked that being on The Voice and having her expressions captured on camera meant it would make it impossible for her to get Botox without fans noticing.

Viewers are used to seeing the star squeal, laugh, and gasp as she taps her big shiny red button to spin around during blind auditions – with her eyebrows likely to hit the ceiling when she hears a good hopeful.

She told The Sun at the time: “I knew my facial expressions were quite intense but I didn’t know they were that extreme. It’s a lot, isn’t it?

“I’d like to apologise to people for that. But it’s a good way to be, I think — or not, because I can’t hide how I’m feeling.

“You have to take me as I come, because there’s no other way of dealing with me.”

Asked directly if it would affect the chances of her getting Botox, Anne-Marie quipped: “Yeah, f***. I might have to stop doing it so that nobody notices after a while.”

The Voice UK continues on Saturday at 8pm on ITV1 and via the ITV Hub.
