The Vivienne loses two stone from Dancing on Ice training: 'I'm in best shape of my life'

Drag Race UK winner The Vivienne is set to don skates this weekend as she makes her debut on Dancing on Ice.

The Vivienne appeared on Friday morning’s instalment of Lorraine to sit down in the ITV studio with host Lorraine Kelly.

The drag queen said she had been up since 4am to get glammed up for the show, teasing: “I don’t do it for many people, but for you Lorraine, I wake up at 4am.”

The show displayed The Vivienne’s official Dancing on Ice cast photo in all her skating finery alongside professional skating partner Colin Grafton.

She told Lorraine: “It’s got me in the best shape of my life, honestly. I lost nearly two stone,” before she laughed adding: “Put a bit on over Christmas though.”

The Vivienne said she had only ice skated a handful of times at an ice disco near her home growing up before signing up for the competition.

As a result the drag queen said she did take a few tumbles in training – but it turns out taking to the ice in drag has an unexpected advantage to avoid injury.

The Vivienne explained that skating in full drag means she doesn’t feel her falls and bumps as she wears padding on her hips to give her a ‘Jessica Rabbit’ hourglass figure.

She told Lorraine it has been ‘one of the most amazing experiences’ that she has ever done and voiced her hopes to carry on skating beyond the ITV talent competition.

She said: “I never thought in life – I fell in love with drag at a very young age, at 14, and I started doing it at 16. You kind of think, that’s my lane, that’s going to be my job for the rest of my life.

“I’ve been skating for nearly three months and I'm already thinking once the show ends, I want to make this part of my life, because I'm going to miss it so much.

“So I'm going to fight for a drag on ice tour, because I want to continue doing this. It’s just fantastic.”

Dancing on Ice got off to a rocky start over the weekend, as the show was hit with a number of Ofcom complaints after Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu took to the ice in the first episode of the series.

The celebrity ice skating competition returned for another year on Sunday evening with a star-studded launch on ITV.

The Love Island winner, 28, recreated her notorious villa crawl during the routine - which host Holly Willoughby described as the show's 'sexiest ever skate' – only to find herself in next week's dreaded skate off.

However, Ekin-Su's performance and daring outfit on the ITV show has now sparked 112 complaints to the TV regulator, as viewers at the time claimed it was 'not appropriate' before the watershed.

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV
