The seemingly inevitable has finally happened. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Minnesota Vikings have released wide receiver Adam Thielen.
The move saves the Vikings $6,417,647 on the salary cap while incurring $13,550,000 in dead cap. Per The Star Tribune’s Ben Goessling, it will not be a post-June 1st designation.
Adam Thielen‘s release is a pre-June 1 move, I’m told. Vikings will get about $6.41 million of cap space, and absorb $13.55 million of dead money this year.

It was no secret that Thielen wanted to be a bigger part of the offense and he wasn’t going to have that chance in Minnesota. He leaves the organization ranking in the top-five in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
With a weaker free-agent class of wide receivers, Thielen is arguably the best available.
