Going into the 2022 season, the Minnesota Vikings are not sitting in a good place with the salary cap.
When the Vikings waived Armon Watts and traded Jesse Davis to the Pittsburgh Steelers, there was an immediate thought that this was a salar cap move. Waiving Watts saved $2.54 million and trading Davis saved upwards of $1.5 million.
Those moves were necessary when you look at the Vikings current cap situation, which is borderline dire going into the season.

Sitting at $1.935 million, the Vikings are third-to-last in the league. They can still maneuver by restructuring the contracts of Dalvin Cook and Eric Kendricks but that would not be good for the Vikings on a long-term basis.
If something happens to a star player early in the season, the Vikings won’t have a lot of wiggle room to make a move, including a potential Ndomukong Suh signing.
