The View cancel London gig after ‘huge on-stage punch up’ in Manchester

Scottish Indie rockers The View have apologised to fans and cancelled their Hackney show tonight after singer Kyle Falconer and bassist Kieren Webster clashed on stage.

Footage shot at a special comeback gig in Manchester’s Deaf Institute shows the Same Jeans singer swinging punches after Webster appears to kick his microphone stand during a song.

Falconer tries to push him before throwing his electric guitar to the floor in front of horrified fans.

In the melee, he appears to aim a kick to the bassist’s head.

The irate frontman follows up the attempted punch by shouting “I’ll f***ing kill you” as he is held back by third founding member Pete Reilly.

During an acoustic encore after a short break, Falconer hit out again at Webster, telling the crowd: “If you want, I think you should maybe ask Kieran to come up and finish the set. The problem with this band is he wants to sing the songs and he can’t, right.”

He then abruptly walks off stage.

The band released a statement cancelling their show in Oslo, Hackney on Thursday night to the disappointment of fans.

A statement said: “Unfortunately we are having to postpone tonight’s London show. Our promoter is working to resolve the situation. Please keep hold of your tickets for now and we will make a further announcement in a few days.

“Massive apologies to all our fans.”

The View, who say they are three pals in a band from Dryburgh, are best known for their 2007 single “Same Jeans“ which reached number three on the UK Singles Chart.

The band’s social media account had earlier that day wished the bassist a Happy Birthday moments before the brawl.

One fan replied: “Nice of Kyle to give him the birthday bumps on stage.”
