The View announce brand new album 'Exorcism of Youth' eight years after last release

The View will release their first new album in eight years this summer.

The Dundee rockers have announced to fans 'Exorcism of Youth' will be out this June.

And they gave a taster of what’s to come with new single Feels Like which dropped on Thursday.

The band, made up of Kyle Falconer, Kieren Webster and Steven Morrison, announced the news on Instagram, with a post on the band’s official Instagram page reading: “"We’re back with a brand new album, Exorcism of Youth! Pre-order on limited vinyl, CD and cassette from our official store and listen to the first track ‘Feels Like’ via the link in our bio. #TheView #NewMusic."

Fans were over the moon with the revelation.

One wrote: "Omg cannot wait.... preordered!"

While one said: "So glad you’re back lads! I remember seeing you in Jersey a few years ago and it was a blast, loving the new tune!"

Another wrote: "Hopefully hear a couple of these new tunes at trnsmt."

While one penned: "New track is f*****g exceptional lads. The view are BACK TVAOF."

The news comes as the group gears up to play TRNSMT Festival at Glasgow Green this July.

The band split in 2017 following three UK Top 10 albums - Hats Off to the Buskers, Which B***h? and Cheeky for a Reason - but reunited last year to play a series of sell out shows across Scotland.

Last year, they announced their plans for a comeback show, their first concert since 2017. They said at the time: "It's an honour to be able to play our songs to live audiences again and we know you're ready! The View are probably in the best position we have ever been in to play live, so get ready!”

Exorcism of Youth will be released on June 9. You can pre-order it here.

Back in December, The View played three-sold out gigs at Glasgow's O2 Academy.

Initially, they only put on one date but due to high demand, another two were added.

During one of the gigs, Kyle brought his pal out to the stage and it was none other than Line of Duty actor, Martin Compston.

Kyle pulled his old flatmate onto the stage to serenade him to apologise for being absent on his wedding day in 2016.

Remembering the incident in front of a packed crowd, Same Jeans singer Kyle told fans he'd been unable to attend the Line of Duty star's marriage ceremony to now wife Tianna Flynn because he'd been drunk and disorderly on a flight from Glasgow to the Spanish city of Spain.

Kyle introduced Greenock-born Martin on to the stage to sing him a song that he and Tianna had as their first dance song when they tied the knot - called 'I Love You' - with Tianna watching on via FaceTime.

Before he got on the stage, Kyle told the audience that he was supposed to sing this song to them on their big day but he didn't in the end because he he got in trouble with police when the plane landed.

In June 2016, the flight was forced to stop in Nantes, France, for the Dundee rocker to be booted off after he shouted and swore at cabin crew and fellow passengers. French police restrained Falconer and took him off the plane after landing - meaning he didn't make it back in time to see his pal get married.

So the rocker decided to finally make it up to his pal and get him on the stage to sing to him and Tianna.
