A Valleys construction firm has made a flying start to the year with £7m of new contracts secured.
Pontypridd-based Trojan Construction Management, which specialises in the food retail and commercial sectors, said the new wins include its biggest to date with a £3.8m valued contract to build a trade unit in Christchurch, Dorset, including new Burger King and Costa Coffee outlets.
Contracted through commercial property developer Hamdon Gate, the scheme is scheduled for completion in June. Trojan Construction has also forged a new relationship with Canadian fast-food chain, Tim Hortons, and is due to fit its first site for the brand in Manchester this year.
For is financial year it projecting revenues of £15m as it enters its milestone tenth year of business.
In that time it has built over 170 projects including more than 120 drive thru units for the likes of Starbucks, Costa, KFC, Taco Bell, McDonalds and Burger King - totalling nearly £60m of project value over the company’s ten years of trading
The firm was founded by construction director David Thomas and commercial director Shaun Welsh after both were made redundant.
Since being established Trojan has achieved sustain growth which has seen it regularly featuring in the Wales Fast Growth 50 initiative – which annually ranks the fastest growing indigenous firms in Wales on revenue growth – as well as being a previously KFC contractor of the Year.
Recently completed projects include Wales’ first ever Taco Bell drive thru at the Dragon Retail Park in Cardiff and a Starbucks drive thru in Dudley, West Midlands.
Mr Welsh, said of the firm’s tenth year of trading: “It’s quite incredible how far Trojan Group has come since we founded the company. Our approach to delivering high quality developments has been resolute for these ten years and because of that we’ve created fantastic working relationships with international brands who have continued to want to work with us.
“We’ve built a responsible business that is committed to supporting its employees and as such we’ve invested thousands of pounds in training and qualifications for our staff to enhance their professional skills.
“This commitment has also seen us recently achieve Living Wage accreditation.”
On its environmental impact it has achieving 96.5% recycling across all its sites since its foundation. It has also set out ambitious plans to become a carbon neutral business in the coming years. Trojan has a workforce of nearly 30.
