The Upcoming Easter Weekend Is Serving Both Sunshine & Cold Front Chaos

Don’t forget to grab a lil’ sweater to go with your fab fits this weekend, because it looks like the sunny days ahead will be followed by a cold front.

To kick things off, Good Friday looks like it’ll be a fine day in most capital cities, with Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Hobart forecast to experience warm days — we’re talking high 20s to low 30s.

Saturday keeps the good weather going, especially for the south-east. But don’t get too comfy in the sun just yet.

According to Bureau of Meteorology senior meteorologist Angus Hines, it looks like things will start to shift by Easter Sunday. A cool change will roll into South Australia and Victoria, while Sydney clings to that sunshine with a toasty forecast of 29°C. (I’d be watching out for melting chocolate eggs if I were you.)

But a cool change will be coming, which will push into the southern half of the country by Monday and bring cloud, wind, showers, and maybe even a few storms.

“Adelaide, having spent most of the week in the 30s, will be back to just 20 degrees,” Hines said, per ABC News.

“And those cooler temperatures will also be through Victoria, Tasmania and western New South Wales.”

Through all this, Queenslanders can expect a typically sunny weekend — love that for you!

The east coast might also be in for some large and hazardous swells this Easter weekend, courtesy ex-tropical cyclone Tam which has been moving south into the Tasman sea. By large, we’re talking up to 5 metre waves for the New South Wales and southern Queensland coast from Thursday to Saturday.

Looking over at our mates in WA, Hines explained Cyclone Errol, which so far been tracking away from the mainland, might be swerving back to the coast from Thursday or Friday.

“It’s almost going to do a complete U-turn and start heading back the way its come,” he explained, which could mean some wind and rain for the state on Good Friday.

As for the far north, another tropical low could bring heavier rain to parts of the eastern Top End or western Cape York over the weekend. Darwin and Cairns will mostly dodge any major impacts with a few potential showers.

Happy easter weekend y’all!!!
