The underrated Glasgow walk with epic views and one of the city's top bars at the end

Spring is around the corner, the daffodils are blooming and the sun is back(ish) so our thoughts are turning to weekend wanders and places to go that aren't the same old walks we always take.

Well, do we have a doozy for you. Not only is this walk filled with history and interesting things to see, but you'll also find a panoramic view of the city as well as a fantastic pub at the end to enjoy a scran and a pint afterwards.

Perched on a hill in the east end of the city, the Necropolis might sound like a bit of a broody place to visit but in fact, it's one of the most interesting locations in Glasgow.

Rich with history (there is thought to be over 50,000 people buried here including some of Glasgow's most famous sons and daughters, you'll find the Victorian Garden Cemetery behind the Tennent's Wellpark Brewery, across from the iconic Glasgow Cathedral – another great place to check out on the route.

Part of the fun is reading the many names and stories of the people you'll find here.

Among the many crypts, tombs and gravestones you'll find some famous names including magician and theatre owner David Prince Miller, who founded the Adelphi Theatres and brewer Hugh Tennent, who was buried close to the site of his famous brewery.

Scots poet William Miller, the man who gave us the nursery rhyme Wee Willie Winkie, is also buried here.

The second largest green space in the centre of Glasgow, it's got plenty of paths for energetic dogs and kids and is also home to a wide array of wildlife.

At the top, you'll find impressive views of the city – ideal for a quick photograph or two for the obligatory social media posts.

Intriguingly, The Batman was filmed here, meaning you'll be able to spot the various sites where the DC studio scenes involving his bike took place if you're familiar with the film itself.

And after all that walking, should you have built up a drouth, you can pop out the bottom gate for a short walk to the fantastic Drygate Brewery and Taproom, where not only can you grab a tasty bite to eat (it's dog friendly too) but also enjoy some of the best brews around to toast the inhabitants of the Necropolis.
