You will have seen their work lighting up the skies over Nottingham city centre, the River Trent and the Forest Recreation Ground as part of the Winter Wonderland, Riverside Festival and bonfire night.

They are displays by the British Firework Champions 2019 - aka the Smith family from Notts, who started with a bang over 30 years ago.
"It was in 1985 when my family began supplying firework displays - the first being at my own primary school in Burntstump near Papplewick," says Lee Smith, operations and displays director at 1st Galaxy Fireworks.
Since then the Sherwood company, which now employs eight people with over 40 professional pyrotechnicians on the books, has been picking up national awards, the latest of which was at a competition in Plymouth.

"We battled it out against three other incredible teams, among them some of the best in the country," said Lee.
"With such tough competition, we couldn’t have been prouder."
He added: "The British Firework Championships is always a major event and attracts a huge crowd. It’s thrilling for both fireworks professionals and enthusiasts. We'd previously taken both second and third place so this was our year to win."

As well as organising displays at some of the key events in and around Nottingham, they've been busy with Halloween and bonfire night preparations at Screamfest at the National Forest Adventure Farm and Sacrewell Farm Park in Peterborough.
From their base at Valley Road in Sherwood, they sell direct to members of the public over the counter. There are also seasonal shops in Ilkeston and Matlock.
"The most popular fireworks vary year after year but for many of our customers organising parties or bonfire night celebrations it's the 100 Shot Super Show, They don't come much more varied in effect than this stunner."
