The UK's best and worst paying jobs in 2022 - from driving instructors to bar staff

The UK's highest and lowest paying jobs of 2022 have been revealed - with a substantial gap between the top and bottom earners overall.

Latest data accrued by the Office for National Statistic (ONS) shows that chief executives and senior officials unsurprisingly make the most of all, earning in the region of £121,434 on average each year.

Whereas on the opposite end of the spectrum, leisure and theme park attendants were this year ranked as the lowest earners - taking home an average salary of just £14,064 before tax per annum.

When compared, this means there is a huge difference of £107,370 between the highest and lowest paid jobs, The Mirror reports. Those in the marketing and sales industry followed just behind the country's highest earners, making £91,818 on average, marginally ahead of the £91,853 on average financial managers and directors take home.

Without adjusting for inflation, the median weekly pay for employees working on a full-time basis increased by five per cent to £640 in 2022, but in real terms - taking inflation into account - weekly pay for employees in the same circumstances fell by 2.6%.

The proportion of low-paid employee jobs also fell to 10.5% this year, the lowest figure since records began in 1997. Meanwhile, some 509,000 were paid below the National Minimum Wage this year - an increase of around 100,000 from 2019 (409,000).

The figures were calculated and published by the ONS as part of its Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings, but the ONS says that any year-on-year changes in data may be skewed. This is because the coronavirus pandemic and furlough pay would have had a substantial impact on any results from 2020 and 2021.

Here is a full list of the highest and lowest earners in 2022, on a full-time basis.
