The UEFA charge Celtic could face over 'Show Israel the Red Card' protest

Celtic could face a UEFA sanction over the Green Brigade's 'Show 'Israel' the Red Card' protest.

The fan group unveiled a huge display at the start of the second half with supporters holding red flyers in the air behind the giant message.

A Palestinian flag was waved as supporters joined the protest over the conflict.

Celtic previously received a fine from UEFA over the display of Palestinian flags during the Champions League match against Atletico Madrid in 2023.

UEFA issued the €17,500 punishment for the display of a 'Provocative message of an offensive nature'.

Celtic could now face a similar sanction from UEFA over the display at Parkhead on Wednesday night for the match against Bayern Munich.

UEFA Article 45.01 states: "The match organiser, together with the police commander for the match and the safety and security officer, must prevent any provocative action being taken by spectators inside or in the immediate vicinity of the stadium (unacceptable levels of verbal provocation from spectators towards players or opposing fans, racist behaviour, provocative banners or flags, etc.)."

A leaflet handed out by the Green Brigade - which was also used in the display - read: "At the start of the 2nd half, please SHOW 'ISRAEL' THE RED CARD to send a direct message to UEFA and FIFA to apply their respective statutes and suspend 'Israel' from competition.

"By doing so, you will not only be doing the right thing but you will be joining football fans of conscience and courage around the worlds who will be adopting the same message.

"'Israel' is committing genocide and ethnic cleansing; it is practicing apartheid; and it is illegally occupying Palestinian territory. All of this in in breach of international law.

"In 15 months, 'Israel' has murdered at least 382 Palestinnian footballers and at least 235 other sports people. Of these numbers, at least 96 are children and at least 286 are youths. 'Israel has destroyed 147 football facilities and 140 other sports facilities across all of Palestine.'Israel' has prevented football and other sports from being played across all of Palestine.

"These crimes have no place in our beautiful game.

"Thank you. Green Brigade."
