The TV shows you can try out across Greater Manchester

If you've ever sat and watched a TV challenge show and thought "I could do better than that", then there's never been more opportunities to put your money where your mouth is here in Manchester.

We now have a number of live attractions based on hit TV shows where you can take family and friends along to experience them in real life.

You might not get your moment of fame at these venues - just to be clear there are no TV cameras filming at these attractions - but you do get to share your moment of glory with your pals.

And Manchester also boasts one of the most famous TV soap sets in the world here in Coronation Street.

The good news is that the Corrie tour experience is just about to reopen, giving fans the chance to live out their own drama on the cobbles and find out all the behind-the-scenes gossip on the hit ITV show.

Here we take a look at some of the TV show-inspired attractions you can now book across Greater Manchester.

The Cube

(Urban Playground)

The Cube was a huge hit for ITV, hosted by Philip Schofield, running for 13 series.

Now you can have a go at the seemingly-simple challenges under time pressure inside the iconic perspex boxes in a huge new site inside the Manchester Arndale Centre.

The Cube Live attraction is part of the new Urban Playground site, which also boasts a cocktail bar, burger restaurant The Butcher and a crazy golf course.

Fans of the ITV show will know that only one man has ever beaten The Cube, and that was the supreme athlete Sir Mo Farah. But don't let that put you off giving it a good go....

What age range is it suitable for?

The minimum age requirement to play is 9 years with the following supervision ratios: For 9 to 11 years, supervision ratio is one adult per child must whilst playing The Cube (1:1); For 12 to 17 years, supervision ratio is one adult whilst per three children whilst playing The Cube (1:3).

Under 18s are not permitted in the venue without a responsible adult present at all times, and are not permitted in the venue after 7pm.

How much are tickets?

Ticket prices vary depending on the times booking, but are from around £30 to £45 per person.

How many people can play?

Four players compete against each Cube and tickets are purchased in multiples of two.

If your group size is less than four you may be paired with people you don’t know at peak times.

How long does it take to play?

Approximately 90 minutes

The Crystal Maze

The Crystal Maze Experience (Crystal Maze)

The Crystal Maze first burst onto our TV screens in the 1990s with the inimitable Richard O'Brien as the Maze Master host.

It saw players heading through a series of zones to win challenges - and gain a crystal which equated to time in the impressive crystal dome at the finale to win cash. And in more recent years the show had a Channel 4 reboot with Richard Ayoade at the helm.

Now it's also the huge Crystal Maze LIVE attraction in Manchester where players get to also pit their wits against the challenges across four themed zones - winning crystals along the way.

Sadly, in the live version, you're not playing for cash in the Dome though, just a bid to grab as many of the tokens as possible to see how far up the Manchester leaderboard you can go.

What age range is it suitable for?

The Crystal Maze LIVE Experience is only open to guests aged 9+. Bookings with guests aged under 18 must have 2 paying and playing adults (18+) per team. 9-17 year olds attending without an accompanying adult will not be able to play and no refund will be offered/ given.

How much are tickets?

Current prices range from £33 to £59 (inclusive of booking fees) per person when you book online, depending on the date and time of day you book for. Prices are subject to change based on availability, so it is advised to book early for the best price.

How many can play?

Each session in the Crystal Maze is for a team of up to 8 people - and if you book for less people, you may be put with other players.

How long does it take to play?

It takes around 75 minutes to play, and guests are asked to arrive 30 minutes ahead of their booked time to get all the instructions for play.

Coronation Street tour

You can get a photo of yourself outside t'Rovers on the Coronation Street tour (Manchester Evening News)

Coronation Street: The Tour, gives you the chance to explore the outdoor set where the real-life stars of the long-running soap all film at MediaCityUK.

Although it's important to note that tours only take place when live filming is not taking place (at weekends), so you're unlikely to bump into a star when you visit.

However you do get access externally to all of the street’s most recognisable places; plus an exclusive look behind the scenes.

Stroll past the Roy’s Rolls Café or check out Kev’s car shop, Webster’s Auto Centre. Wander past the Kabin, head to the most action-packed pub in the North West, The Rovers Return and even Weatherfield North as you explore Coronation Streets’ famous cobbles.

What age range is it suitable for?

This one is suitable for all ages, but be aware it is mostly outdoors.

How much are tickets?

Tickets are £35 for adults and £32.50 for children 8 years and under.

Ninja Warrior UK

Ninja Warrior Adventure Centres are a popular attraction (STOKE SENTINEL)

Probably the most physically gruelling of the TV game shows we've listed here, Ninja Warrior has been a big hit for ITV with all those muscular challenges for the most athletic among us.

Now, even those less athletic of us can have a go of it too at Ninja Warrior Adventure Centres up and down the country, which includes a site in Wigan.

It's basically like a massive inflatable assault course where you can climb, balance, jump and swing across different obstacles using and developing your Ninja skills, plus the famous Warped Wall for every aspiring Ninja to conquer.

What age range is it suitable for?

The Ninja equipment is for ages 5+, but there is inflatable equipment suitable for all ages. Children aged 4 and under must be accompanied by a full paying adult at all times. For the Ninja areas there are four runs, two for up to age 14 and then two for age 14+. Any participants aged 14 or under must have a responsible adult on site with them at all times.

How many can play?

This is suitable for bigger groups and parties, as you book into set time slots with a certain amount of people able to play at each time session.

How much are tickets?

Prices vary depending on the time slot you go in, and how long you are staying for, starting at £11 for 60 minutes and £16 for two hours. Spectators can go in free.
