The transfer lesson Rangers can learn from Celtic as ruthless Ryan Christie approach shows Beale must issue 2 ultimatums

Concerned Alex Rae reckons John Lundstram and Borna Barisic must be shown the door at Ibrox if they don't pen new contracts at Rangers.

The duo are rapidly approaching the final year of their contracts in Govan leaving Michael Beale facing a stick or twist scenario this summer. Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos are among the players leaving for nothing this summer - and concerned Rae reckons the Ibrox side must adopt some of the tactics used across the city at Celtic Park this month.

The former Rangers star used the example of Scotland star Ryan Christie - who left Glasgow's east end in August 2021 as he approached the final months of his contract with the Scottish Premiership side for Bournemouth. The playmaker had enjoyed a six-year spell at Parkhead but a £2.5million deadline day move to England was rubber stamped to recoup some cash for the key player.

Rae told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard: "I think on the back on Morelos and Kent leaving for nothing, if you can cash in on Lundstram or Barisic you would. I think there are lessons to be learned from Celtic.

"You look at Ryan Christie a couple of years ago, there are lessons to be learned. You give them a contract and allow them to commit to the club, or you sell them. The performances of some of these guys have not been good enough.

"I was thinking of some of the other guys as well. Is Colak going to be there, is Wright going to be there, has Matondo done enough?"
