The Traitors series two opening episode pulled in an impressive 3.1million viewers, 200,000 more than last year’s inaugural season, according to data supplied by overnights.tv.
The hotly anticipated series returned to screens on Wednesday night with Claudia Winkleman at the helm for the show’s second installment.
While the current figures are impressive, it’s believed they are likely to increase in the coming days over on BBC’s iPlayer as many missed the premiere due to the PDC World Darts Championship airing at the same time.
Series two's opening episode was also second highest overnight rating yet for the show overall - only slightly less than the series one final, which was watched by 3.3million.
The figures comes as it was revealed that a contestant in the new series of The Traitors once appeared on Deal Or No Deal.
Paul Gorton, 36, is one of 12 hopefuls vying to secure the show's cash prize of up to £120,000.
However, it’s not the business manager’s first appearance on a TV game show, having stood alongside Noel Edmonds on Channel 4’s Deal Or No Deal back in 2010.
At the time, the wannabe stand-up comedian was just 22 at the time of filming and living at his mum's house in Warrington with his girlfriend.
During the episode, he said he hoped the show would land him a modelling deal, as well as potentially a £250,000 cash boost.
Although he only came away with a small fraction of the top prize, he gained much respect for TV presenter Edmonds.
He said: “I don't know whether that was just me, but I couldn't keep my eyes off him. You know, some people are just born for the job they're in.
“He was born to be a host on that show. He did it so well.”
