The Traitors' bosses have their eyes set on some key contestants for a potential celebrity version of the show.
The BBC reality show became an overnight sensation, with many branding the series one of the best competition shows in recent years. Following on from the success of season one, there have been many rumours circulating about a potential celebrity version of the murder mystery show.
Filmed in the Highlands, The Traitors saw 22 contestants enter Ardross Castle in a bid to suss out who the Traitors were amongst the Faithful contestants - before they were murdered or banished.
The ultimate game of deception and betrayal had viewers hooked until the very last second, as Faithfuls Meryl Williams, Aaron Evans and Hannah Byczkowski took home the £101,050 prize pot.
Following the success of season one, there have been rumours a celebrity version could already be in the works as BBC bosses have set their sights on their ideal contestants. Speaking to Metro, executive producers Sarah Fay and Toni Ireland have shared who would be in their dream line-up.
Sarah said: "I think we’d want people who are so invested in the game and want to play the game, and I think that’s what brings the drama so well. We’ve been blown away by some of our celebrity support."
She continued: "I’d love to see Rylan [Clark], he’d be incredible, but also Kathy Burke is a fan. I mean Russell T Davies is a fan. I think I’d want very much a mixture of different types of celebs as well."
"To see Kathy Burke calling someone out at the roundtable could be pretty good," Toni added.
Comedian Kathy could be coming to the round table sooner rather than later, as the star was firmly on Team Wilfred as he deceived his contestants until the last second. "Amanda was fab, yes but Wilf is playing the best game.
"A mate said earlier they want a faithful to win but all they’ve done is sit around getting everything wrong and crying. F**k em. Team Wilf!" Kathy tweeted.
She wasn't the only celebrity who was a fan of the show, comedian Jason Manford even threw his hat into the ring for a celebrity version. "Just finished “The Traitors” on @BBCOne!" he tweeted. ‘"No idea how I managed to avoid any spoilers but what a brilliant bit of telly! Loved it!"
Heaping praise on host Claudia Winkleman, he wrote: "@ClaudiaWinkle the perfect host. If they do a celeb version, I’m throwing my hat in the ring now! Catch it on iPlayer if you haven’t managed it yet!"
While a UK celebrity special is still just rumours, US fans of the show will be delighted as Scots actor Alan Cumming is due to host The Traitors stateside in the new year. The cast features a host of stars including Below Deck icon Kate Chastain, Real Housewives’ Brandi Glanville, Survivor stars Cirie Fields and Stephenie LaGrossa, and Big Brother’s Cody Calafiore and Rachel Reilly among them.
The Traitors US will see the celebrities face off against civilian contestants including an influencer, a yoga instructor, a nurse and a political analyst.
The Traitors is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
