The Traitors season three has helped us all to blast through the January blues by bringing some much needed whimsy and warmth into our lives. For that we will miss it dearly.
So dearly, in fact, that many people are wondering how to apply to be on The Traitors themselves. It’s a valid method: with The Traitors filming during the summertime, there is no better way to expedite experiencing the next series than by actually starring in it. You get a six month jump on everybody else. Huzzah!
But how exactly does the application process work? If you’ve ever applied to be on reality TV before, you’ll be familiar with some of the steps in the process, which includes filming a short video clip of yourself.
But there are also very Traitors specific elements to the application process, including a stage where you answer direct questions on whether you would rather be a Traitor or a Faithful, plus your reasoning why.
With season three almost at an end, here’s how you can help process the loss by applying for The Traitors season four.
How to apply for the Traitors season 4
If you think you can take the heat (not everyone can) you can now put your name in the hat by applying through The Traitors’ production company, Studio Lambert, via their application form, which is linked at the bottom of this article. However, the form can take a bit of time, so you might want to see what it involves first.
The application form opens with this explanation: “The Traitors is a competition series built on strategy, suspicion and deception, filmed in the Scottish Highlands. A team of players will compete in a series of missions, the more missions they complete successfully, the bigger the prize pot.”
“However, hidden amongst the players are the ‘Traitors’. The Traitors meet in secret and decide who to eliminate from their fellow players known as the ‘Faithful’. The aim for the Traitors is to stay undetected until the end, the aim for the Faithful is to banish all of the Traitors before the game ends.
“Throughout the series, there will be twists, turns, rigorous challenges, shocks and surprises for the players.”
Applications close on February 9 2025.
What do they ask you when you apply for The Traitors season four?
The first stage of The Traitors application process asks you for your basic details — name, age, where you are from etc — with a few checkboxes to make sure you’re definitely eligible. Things that can disqualify you from the application process are being under 18 or not having the right to legally reside in the UK.
You also need to agree that you’ll be available for four weeks of filming in the Scottish Highlands during the summer, so get ready to save up that annual leave!
The next stage asks more specific, job interview-style questions, like why you would want to be on The Traitors and why you’d rather be a Traitor or a Faithful.
The application process then asks about potential winning strategies, which is where things like Leanne’s hidden Army background and Charlotte’s fake Welsh accent would come into play.
Then it gets deep! The Traitors season four application asks questions about what you’re passionate about, the biggest lie you’ve ever told, and moments where you’ve had to choose between your head and your heart.
It’s worth noting that there are quite a lot of questions, so it’s worth setting some time aside for this bit.
For the final section of the process, you upload a headshot, a full length photo of yourself and a one minute video of you speaking to the camera.
In the video, the application asks that you: “Tell us about yourself and why you want to be on The Traitors. Would you rather be a Faithful or a Traitor and why? What would your game plan be?”
What makes a good Traitor?
If you think you might rather be a Traitor, ask yourself this: would you be a good one? Not all people lend themselves well to being Traitors (sorry Linda), while some are complete naturals (love you Minah).
According to psychologist Dr Rachael Molitor, a good traitor is someone who keeps calm under pressure, doesn’t fidget and remains likeable.
“One of the important social psychological principles with being successful in the game, both as a Traitor or a Faithful, would be the ability to build social connections, rapport and trust,” says Dr Molitor. “Being known and liked within the group would help to support group conformity if any arguments or suspicions were to arise, and allow others to speak on your behalf regarding your character.”
