The top five streets with the most crime in East Belfast

The Castlereagh Road is the street with the most crime in East Belfast.

According to police crime statistics, there were 7,765 crimes reported in the east of the city from December 2020 to November 2021, with the majority of these being anti-social behaviour and violent and sexual offences.

East Belfast has the lowest level of anti-social behaviour reports in the city, although from March 2020 to February 2021, it had seen a 30% increase in reports, with 3,804 incidents, 898 more than the year before.

South Belfast had the highest rate of anti-social behaviour with 6,569, followed by North Belfast with 6,054.

The Castlereagh Road had the highest number of reported crimes last year, closely followed by the Beersbridge Road and Newtownards Road.

  2. Beersbridge Road - 32 crimes reported
  3. Bloomfield Avenue - 80 crimes reported
  4. Newtownards Road - 62 crimes reported

In 2021, there were 2,814 anti-social behaviour incidents recorded, 2,308 violent or sexual offences and 730 incidents of arson or criminal damage in the East Belfast area.

Chief Inspector Wendy Pollock said: “Our officers provide a visible policing presence in the east Belfast area and are committed to working alongside partner agencies, local representatives and members of the community to address any problems that may arise, including anti-social behaviour and drugs criminality.

“Police will robustly address any criminal activity and welcome the opportunity to engage with those who wish to tackle criminality in the local community.

“I would encourage anyone affected by any criminal activity to contact police in order to enable us to take action.

“Any incident can be reported on the non-emergency number 101.
