The Todd Cantwell Rangers key factor he must 'stay away' from as Celtic hero delivers pressure verdict

Todd Cantwell must 'stay away' from a key factor of his Rangers move if he wants to handle the pressure of playing for the club.

That is the view of Celtic hero Peter Grant, who admits the youngster has been guilty of biting back to criticism in a public manner during his time at Norwich City. The 24-year-old sealed a long-term switch to Glasgow this week as Michael Beale's first new recruit at Ibrox after a period of being frozen out at Carrow Road.

Cantwell himself admitted it would take time for him to settle in to life in Scotland, but that he plans to lift silverware in light blue. Yet former Parkhead star Grant, who watched the kid during his time at the Canaries, admits there is no doubt over the midfielder's talent but that he is prone to engaging in social media exchanges - something he cannot do to survive in Glasgow.

He told Go Radio: "He's a talented boy. There's no doubt about that. I'm not sure where he will play for Rangers, in the ten or off the left hand side. He can play any behind the striker.

"People will take this the wrong way but I'm talking about is on social media he seems to have a pop back at certain things said about him. You have to stay away from that, especially in Glasgow. If you're getting criticism and you start answering back everyone just piles in. I felt that happened at Norwich despite him having a successful time.

"He was saying it was a difficult time for him but only a small period. He did exceptionally well and was getting talked about for millions of pounds to Newcastle etc. I'll be interested to see how he handles the pressure of Glasgow. That's the big thing.

"The expectation is massive. There's no doubt about his talent, however. It's the other things he has to be careful about because Glasgow is completely different."
