Staying in a cosy cabin nestled in the woods for a couple of nights sounds like the ultimate rural escape. With chilly autumnal days ahead, the idea of snuggling up with a hot drink while looking at the falling leaves outside is hard to resist.
Tucked away in the Saddleworth hills is a small woodland lodge which can offer you just that. The ‘tiny home’, available to book on AirBnB, is situated within 30 acres of privately-owned land.
The modern lodge has a slick design with floor-to ceiling windows allowing guests to feel fully immersed in the stunning location. Overlooked by towering trees, the single-storey cabin seamlessly blends in with its surroundings.

It’s perfect for those who fancy a romantic weekend getaway, or if you’re looking to reconnect with nature. As the cabin stands alone you’ll have the place to yourself and “you’ll feel like you’re in your own little bubble”.
There’s a large decked area with a table, chairs and a firepit, perfect for enjoying a drink outside on a crisp autumn day. Or if it's raining you can stay inside and play some of the card and board games provided as you listen to the rain on the windows.
Guests are able to wander around the woods which surround the cabin, and you may even be greeted by the flock of chickens and ducks which live in the grounds. There's also a resident tabby cat Bella who likes to check in on guests at the lodge.
Just a stone’s throw away from the scenic villages of Uppermill, Diggle, Dobcross and Delph, the lodge makes a great base to explore the local area from. There are good transport links with the Peak District and Pennine Hills too.
The lodge sleeps two adults, and a child under 12, with a comfy double bed and all towels and linens provided. The kitchen has everything you could need for a short break, including a hob, microwave and tea and coffee facilities. There’s also a pizza oven which can be used over the fire pit, and a barbecue.
The lodge has a minimum two night stay policy, although some single nights between bookings do become available. For more details and how to book, click here.
