The TikToker Who Started The ‘NYC Influencers Are Boring’ Discourse Was Fired Over It

TikTok drama strikes again, and this time it’s actually cost someone their job. Bridget, who you might know as @martinifeeny, has revealed that she was fired after calling out New York City influencers for being “boring” in a video and all I can say is: yikes.

Bridget called out influencers in NYC for being “boring” and carbon copies of each other in a viral video last month which has now amassed 2.4 million views on TikTok.

Yep, one viral rant and apparently she’s out of a job from “the biggest luxury brand in the world”.

Responding to a supportive comment from another user on April 2, Bridget didn’t hold back: “Do you guys want to know what’s crazy? Yeah, I lost my job because of that original video.”

She explained that her ex-employer was obsessed with the very influencers she criticised.

“That’s why I was bored because they were obsessed with those girls, like it’s crazy, [they’re] the only people they work with,” she said.

“God forbid you speak your mind to your 90 followers at the time. You get clipped… crazy right?”

Bridget didn’t spill any of the specifics about why she was fired but teased that she’d spill more details in future posts. For now, though, she has some words of advice: “Stay boring I guess, because if you’re not, clipped, done.”

Let’s rewind to where it all began. On March 7, Bridget uploaded a fiery TikTok rant dragging NYC influencers for being carbon copies of each other. “They all wear the same exact fucking bracelet. They all have the same exact fucking hand chain that someone else influenced them to get,” she said in the video.

She even threw in a cheeky disclaimer of “no hate” before doubling down on calling them “basic” and suggesting they should be the ones getting influenced instead.

“I don’t know, not even the New York ones. Just like all … these girls. They all get panic attacks. They all shop at Revolve,” she continued.

“Yeah, boring. Let me know if anyone agrees.”

You can watch the original video here:

Social media users flooded her comments with opinions ranging from applause to outrage. Some influencers felt personally attacked, including NYC creator Brigette Pheloung (@acquiredstyle), who stitched Bridget’s video with a now-deleted response silently mocking her critique.

Despite some haters (or maybe because of it), Bridget’s following has since grown to over 4.5k followers. She’s now at the centre of an ongoing debate about influencer culture — are NYC influencers really boring or just unfairly criticised?

So what’s next for Bridget? Honestly, she hasn’t shared much about her plans but I have a feeling she’s got plenty of tea to spill. So you best believe I’m looking out for part two — something tells me it’s going to be ~spicy~.
