Graeme Souness hit Scottish football like a whirlwind when he took over at Rangers in 1986.
And as a man who knows both our game and Roy Keane, it’s fair to say he has a good idea of how the two would work.
That’s why it’s worth listening to his take on his Sky Sports colleague when he gives his opinion on Keane as management material.
The Irish legend has been linked with a sensational move to Hibs with the 50-year-old reportedly keen on succeeding his old Celtic team-mate Shaun Maloney at Easter Road.
It’s more than a decade since Keane was a manager in his own right at Ipswich Town although he has had spells as assistant since then at Ireland, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest.
Keane was linked with the Celtic job at the start of the season and Souness touted his studio partner for the gig where, at that time, he would have gone up against Steven Gerrard.
A year on from having his say, his opinion is unlikely to have changed on the impact Keane would have on the game north of the border.
Speaking to Off The Ball last April, he said: "He (Keane) is desperate to get back.
“He's a football man and I have spoken with him about returning to management. He is very keen to do that.
"All of a sudden, it wouldn't just be Scotland, Ireland and a wee bit of England talking about Scottish football, the world would be talking about it. It would have been great for Scottish football.
"I know Roy. We live near each other in Cheshire and I've waved to him a few times when he's been out walking his dog.
"I enjoy his company, he is very funny and I find his humour very funny."
