The Super Bowl is actually this Sunday in Kansas City

This is the online version of our daily newsletter, The Morning WinSubscribe to get irreverent and incisive sports stories, delivered to your mailbox every morning.

I know what you’re thinking – the Super Bowl isn’t this Sunday, you idiot. It’s Not until Feb. 13th and it’s in Los Angeles, you dummy. Not Kansas City. Duh. Man, how are you this stupid!?

While you’re technically correct (though I could have done without all of the personal insults) about all of that, the two best teams in football – the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs – will meet this Sunday night at Arrowhead in a game that in a perfect world would be for the Lombardi Trophy.

Because, man, this is going to be a FUN one.

I know Green Bay fans are upset right now because Aaron Rodgers and the Packers have the best record in football and had a bye last week. They’ve had a great season and are a tough team and will likely win the NFC. But they ain’t beating Buffalo or Kansas City.

Tom Brady and the Bucs are the defending champs but they are banged up and will have to get past the Rams and then likely the Packers to get there, which ain’t happening.

And I know Tennessee fans are screaming right now about the disrespect for their team, which is the No. 1 seed in the AFC and is getting Derrick Henry back. That’s all well in good but they ain’t beating Buffalo or Kansas City either.

The Bills and the Chiefs are the best teams in football right now. Forget about some bumps each team faced along the way in the regular season. Those don’t matter now. Everything that happened in the 17 games leading up to the playoffs is thrown out the window. It’s the postseason and it’s all about who is the best right now and the best is very easy to pick out.

These two AFC powers are built pretty similarly on both sides of the ball and are likely going to be battling each other for years to come in important games like this one on Sunday.

They both embarrassed a couple of storied franchises in the first round, with the Bills throwing a perfect game at the Patriots and Chiefs sending Ben Roethlisberger into retirement with a laugher in KC.

Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes are two of the best QBs in the league and are going to be two of the best QBs in the league for years to come.

They battled it out last year in the AFC Championship Game with the Chiefs rallying at home to beat the Bills and advance to their second straight Super Bowl. Think the Bills will be looking for revenge? Yeah, me too.

After a stinker of a weekend of NFL playoff games this one game right here has all the makings of being a classic that we look back at for years to come.

In reality, it’s Super Bowl 56 and I can’t wait.
