The Suns were so ashamed of their loss that they issued a statement and fans roasted them for it

If you need any indication of how thoroughly embarrassed the Phoenix Suns were about their 33-point loss to the Mavericks in Sunday’s Game 7, look no further than their tweet on Monday.

The Suns went into the playoffs with the NBA’s best record. They went into Game 6 at Dallas with a 3-2 series lead. They then proceeded to lose the final two games of the series by a combined 60 points. This was a team that had won 64 games in the regular season and now faces major questions heading into the offseason. There’s reason for concern.

But you almost never see a team respond to a postseason loss by issuing a full-blown press release. Sure, the Tampa Bay Lightning had a weird breakup tweet in 2019 (and proceeded to win the next two Stanley Cups), but this is the Suns we’re talking about. A team that addressed its fanbase as the “PayPal Sixth Man Members.”

Team owner Robert Sarver was also noticeably absent from this statement. It should come as no surprise that NBA fans continued to pile on the Suns after that.
