Chepstow Road remains the road where the most parking fines were issued, after figures from WalesOnline, last year revealed 2,960 fines were issued there between March 2020 and May 2021. On several occasions since March 2021, over 100 fines were given out within a single month on that road, and in April 2021 a total of 201 fines were given out.

The responsibility for issuing parking tickets was transferred to Newport City Council from Gwent Police on July 1, 2019, after years of effectively unenforced parking rules. An FOI from WalesOnline later revealed that almost £1 million worth of parking fines had been issued between that date and March 2020.
