Anybody with brothers or sisters knows just how serious sibling rivalry can get. But imagine lining up against your kin at the most watched television event in America.
That is exactly what will be happening at Super Bowl 57 on February 12. Travis and Jason Kelce will be making history when the pair step onto the field in Arizona for what has been dubbed as ‘Kelce Bowl’.
The brothers will be the first pair of brothers to face each other in Super Bowl history. Tight end Travis Kelce will be suiting up for Kansas City Chiefs while older brother Jason will be starring for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Who are the Kelce brothers and where are they from?
The brothers were raised by dad Ed and mum Donna, who is known to wear jerseys with both their names at games. The family are from Cleveland, Ohio and Jason, 35, was the first born and is two years older than Travis who is 33.
Talented athletes from an early age, both played sports at Cleveland Heights High School. Jason was a running back and line-back for the school’s football team and also dabbled in hockey, while Jason played basketball, baseball and football during his time there.
Jason was the first to reach the NFL as a sixth round pick for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2011. After years as a regular starter for the team he became the first Super Bowl champion of the family when the Eagles defeated the New England Patriots at Super Bowl 52 in 2018.
Following in his brother’s footsteps, Travis joined his brother in the NFL as a third round pick for the Chiefs back in 2013. Travis built a strong reputation as a reliable and flashy tight end in the league although his formative years in the NFL were blighted by fines from run-ins with referees over his celebrations and conduct on the field.
However, he also became a Super Bowl champion in 2020. Travis took a starring role at Super Bowl 54 alongside Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes by catching six passes and receiving one touchdown.

The brothers who have their own podcast called ‘New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce’ have always supported each other throughout their careers. However, that changed when it was confirmed that they would be playing each other.
After Travis and the Chiefs booked their spot in the Super Bowl against Jason’s Eagles, the older brother tweeted: "Officially done being a Chiefs fan this season," showing that there will be no love lost come the final.
