With another week comes yet another strange viral video, as the internet’s latest anthem, Taste the Biscuit, has been making the rounds online. In the video, musical duo Toasters ‘n’ Moose perform their food-based hit inside an American thrift store, surrounded by people doing their shopping.
Singer Moose implores viewers to “taste the biscuit,” to “taste the goodness of the biscuit with the honey sauce.” “Don’t get that honey sauce on me,” she continues. “I don’t like the way it tastes with my chicken wings.”
Later in the video, keyboard player Moose takes centre stage with an intense solo regarded as “one of the best in department store history.” The song, though unquestionably bizarre, has a somewhat endearing quality which makes it irritatingly catchy and has generated quite a buzz as viewers keep going back for more.

Reacting to Taste the Biscuit on Twitter, one viewer said: “It is like a car crash. You know you should look away but... you cannot help yourself.”

Another added: “I watched the entire 2 minutes and 20 seconds of it… and I literally couldn’t stop.”
But who are Toasters ‘n’ Moose and what is the story behind Taste the Biscuit? Toasters ‘n’ Moose are a pop duo from the 1970s who appeared in the 2010 comedy mockumentary film Chickens in the Shadows, starring Estelle Piper and Tom Shaw.

The film follows the band thirty years after they disbanded after releasing one unsuccessful album, as their manager gets them back together for a three-day reunion tour of Northern California. Their back catalogue includes tracks titled Where's My Underpants? and I Can Make You Depressed, but it is Taste the Biscuit that fans are going crazy over and has even kickstarted a new TikTok trend.
Sometimes referred to as the Chrome Beach Biscuit Lady, the trend sees users use a filter to transform themselves into a chrome model walking along a picturesque beach while miming along to the track. The song has also been featured on US talk shows and been covered by famous musicians, as country singer Billy Ray Cyrus gave a rendition of the track back in 2011.
Even KFC has now jumped on the trend, with the fast-food chain’s official Twitter account saying: “Now that’s what we call music.” Reacting to the renewed buzz around the video, the film’s director Vincent Gargiulo told Rolling Stone: “So this time, it wasn't that big of a surprise, although it seems to be bigger this go-around.
"The Chrome Lady I don't understand, but sure, cool.”
Estelle Piper, who plays Toasters, also spoke to the publication about the track. She said: “It would seem that whenever a new social media platform becomes the standard, Taste the Biscuit will never be too far behind.”
