The much-loved Laurieston Bar is getting attention on social media, after posting their recently painted murals.
The artwork pays tribute to Glasgow’s subway system, the fourth oldest in Europe. Also on the wall is old-fashioned pie advert, and a signage which reads ‘universal covers’ - all painted by the same artist.
Hoping to cover up some graffiti, the pub's owner decided to continue with more artworks - which look like real adverts from back in the day. Fans of the pub were quick to comment on the posts to Facebook with one user stating: “Amazing, love the Cancy’s Hot Pies sign.”

Another said: “Saw these getting done on Monday, love it.”
Laurieston Bar owner John Clancy spoke to Glasgow Live about the new artwork, stating: “It all came about to cover up some graffiti that was on the wall, so the one in the middle that says universal covers was done to cover it.
“The reason for universal covers is that what was above the pub at one point in time. Then we decided we couldn’t just have one, and we did the pie machine as we’ve got one in the pub.
“We then went with the subway, as we are close to one of the stations. They were all done by one of our regular customers, who is a sign painter - Ciáran Glöbel.”
Artist Ciáran Glöbel began painting graffiti as a youth, before turning his craft into crisply painted lettering for his sign writing company Glöbel Bros Signs. So far this year, he’s painted three different throwback signs.
