The Square in Tallaght is set to introduce paid parking for customers, with free parking at the centre to stop from next weekend.
The centre has announced that from Saturday, 10 September, a new pay-parking system will be introduced, Buzz.ie reports. It is understood that the ticketless system will replace the previous system, where shoppers would get two free hours but a third hour would cost just €2.
Meanwhile, the new system will also use vehicle registration capture with various payment options. The centre said the system is being introduced to ensure that the car park is fit for purpose.

According to The Square, the introduction of this new system ensures a "sustainable model, providing increased parking availability to centre customers" amid ongoing enhancements to the car park and centre facilities. Staff Parking rates remain unchanged at €100 a year over two payments, working out at less than 30c a day.
The new ticketless system is also expected to save printing of over 4.5million tickets a year, while new Fast Track Tap & Go option at barriers and App payment facility will provided added experience for customers. The Square Tallaght said: " We appreciate this new system will take some time to get used to. We will have support measures in place to guide customers during this transition."
The move comes after staff at Liffey Valley were left in uproar over the introduction of a new car parking fee, with management having confirmed that parking is being introduced for everyone in the fourth quarter of this year with a €2.50 charge for the first hour and the following two hours free. It is understood that paid parking will start at the Shopping Centre later this year.
