The special move Eddie Howe rated so highly against Man United - and his plea to Newcastle midfielders

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has encouraged his midfield duo of Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock to boost their goal tallies in the final 11 matches of the campaign - starting at West Ham tonight.

Longstaff and Willock have three goals each this season and Howe wants to take the pressure off his frontline a little by spreading the goals around his team. Willock pounced in the 2-0 win over Manchester United and there were chances for Longstaff too.

Speaking ahead of this evening's crunch clash at the London Stadium, Howe said: "It's a key thing. We need goals from all positions, our strikers, our wide players, midfielders are a key component.

"They have found themselves in the box a lot. Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock, Joelinton depending on who has played the position. Getting them goals is a massive part of the game for us."

Howe took plenty of satisfaction from Willock's goal against Man United and hailed the team move that involved Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimaraes, Allan Saint-Maximin and finally the former Arsenal midfielder.

The Toon boss said: "I think when you see Joe score a header near enough on the goal line that is a great sign. It means he is making the box and timing his runs well. I thought Sunday was a great first goal for us, the inter-play, Bruno's cross and Maxi's header - it was a superb link up."
