The cast of ground-breaking TV show The Sopranos have reunited to mark 20 years since it made its debut on HBO.
Over the course of six seasons, the critically acclaimed drama followed New Jersey mobster Tony Soprano (played by James Gandolfini) as he attempted to balance the running of his criminal empire with the demands of family life.
Hailed by many critics as the greatest TV show of all time, it is often credited with laying the foundations for other HBO hits such as The Wire and Game of Thrones.
Gandolfini, who died of a heart attack in 2013, was represented at the event at New York’s SVA Theatre by his 19-year-old son, Michael.
“It feels very weird,” Falco said of the reunion. “First of all, that it’s 20 years, that’s crazy. And not that I don’t think of Sopranos, but when I do, I almost feel like it’s a dream I had
“It’s a very private relationship with that chapter of my life and then here I am with the cast members and realising that they all have a private relationship with it and when we get together it becomes very much alive and it becomes so obviously wrong that Jim [Gandolfini] isn’t here.
“Obviously he was an integral part of the show but also of the alchemy of our cast. It’s a very unusual, very rich experience, being here,” she told Variety.
Lorraine Bracco, who played Soprano’s therapist Dr Jennifer Melfi, was also in attendance at the event, along with Michael Imperioli (who played Soprano’s protégé Christopher Moltisanti), Tony Sirico (Paulie) and Annabelle Sciorra (Gloria Trillo).
Where are the Sopranos cast now?
Edie Falco
After starring in The Sopranos, Falco received widespread critical acclaim for her role in the darkly comic Nurse Jackie, which earned her three further Golden Globe nominations and an Emmy win. She landed another Emmy nomination last year for her turn in Law and Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders.
Jamie-Lynn Sigler
The Sopranos remains Sigler’s best-known work to date, though the 38-year-old has also dabbled in film and music, releasing a pop collaboration with Romeo Santos in 2012. She is married to baseball player Cutter Dykstra, and the couple have two sons.
Robert Iler
Much like his on-screen sister, the HBO series remains Iler’s most notable work, though he has since appeared in a handful of Law & Order episodes and the cancelled US sitcom Four Kings.
Annabella Sciorra
Sciorra has had a string of roles in shows such as The Good Wife, CSI and Netflix’s GLOW. She also appears in two of the streaming service’s Marvel series, Luke Cage and Daredevil. In 2017, she made headlines when she claimed she was raped by disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein in 1992.
Michael Imperioli
After appearing as Christopher in The Sopranos, Imperioli starred the US remake of BBC hit Life on Mars, and can now be seen in acclaimed miniseries Escape at Dannemora.
