The Smiths' Johnny Marr has been supported after he announced his former bandmate, Andy Rourke, has died aged 59.
The bassist's death was confirmed this morning after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. Johnny issued the update on Twitter.
He said: "It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Andy Rourke after a lengthy illness with pancreatic cancer. Andy will be remembered as a kind and beautiful soul by those who knew him and as a supremely gifted musician by music fans.

"We request privacy at this sad time" Fans flooded the comments to offer their condolences after the sad news.
Phillip said: "I'm so sorry. He will be sorely missed."
