For the second time this week, The Simpsons has appeared to predict the future yet again, spooking fans with its “wildest prediction yet". The animated sitcom’s latest look into the crystal ball involves a bizarre combination: the arrest of Donald Trump and the upcoming Barbie film.
As news focused on Trump becoming the first former US president to be arrested, Warner Bros. dropped a new trailer for Barbie, leading some Simpsons fans to trawl through the archives of the long-running series to find yet another correct prediction made almost 30 years ago. Trump was formally charged with a crime this week, making him the first ever former president to be dealt with in this manner.
He was photographed in court for his first formal hearing on Tuesday (April 4) after a grand jury indicted him on 34 felony charges for falsifying business records. On the same day, Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling were seen in the trailer for the hotly anticipated Barbie film, alongside a star-studded cast including Dua Lipa, Will Ferrell, Michael Cera, and Dame Hellen Mirren.

The Simpsons fans went all the way back to 1994 to find Matt Groening’s animation seemingly predict the future yet again. In the episode Lisa vs Malibu Stacy, Lisa desperately tries to make the creators of the Barbie-like doll produce a toy that sends out a more feminist message to young girls, The Mirror reports.
As newsreader Kent Brockman focuses on the story at the request of his younger daughter, The Simpsons family are seen watching the broadcast from their sofa. The anchor says: “Though it was unusual to spend 28 minutes reporting on a doll, this reporter found it impossible to stop talking.
“It’s just really fascinating news folks. Good night.”

But it’s his final note before ending the news broadcast that has fans really spooked, as Kent quickly announces that the president has been arrested for murder before the report ends. The circumstances aren’t exactly mirroring real-life events – Trump is no longer the president and he wasn’t arrested for murder – but fans were still shocked at the undeniable similarities.
Commenting alongside a screenshot of the episode on Twitter, @heathen_king said: “This is literally the news today.”
@OuijaBakeOven replied: “Not gonna lie this is the wildest Simpsons prediction yet.”
@ladidaix added: “Someone in The Simpsons writers room has to be a prophet because HOW.”
It follows news earlier this week that Cypress Hill announced they are set to perform with the London Symphony Orchestra, 27 years after the collaboration appeared in the 1996 Simpsons episode Homerpalooza.
