The Simpsons fans 'feel weird' as Homer's age is uncovered in mysterious fluke

The Simpsons fans have gone wild after discovering Homer's real age.

A tweet about the classic  Matt Groening  animated sitcom has surfaced on Twitter, revealing the iconic Springfield characters age.

According to an old clip of Homer Simpson's identity card, it claims that the lovable TV cartoon turns 64 years old today.

"According to his driver's license it's Homer Simpson's 64th birthday today!" the Tweet read along with a screenshot of Homer's driving license.

After making the wholesome discovery, fans rushed to social media to wish the nuclear plant worker a happy birthday.

"You've been one of the biggest parts of my life when it comes to TV growing up. Happy birthday Homie!" gushed one nostalgic fan.

While a second quipped: "I hope Marge got you something nice to celebrate!".

"64 years old? Oh my, you don't look a day over 30 Homer!" shared a third.

While a fourth fan voiced: "This has made me feel a really weird type of way. I can't believe The Simpsons has been around for that long".

"Homer Simpson was and is my childhood in a nutshell. Can't believe he's that old. Happy birthday big man" another added.

The Simpsons began as a series of "bumpers" or animated shorts for on April 19, 1987, and premiered as a full animated series on December 17, 1989, on FOX.

Devoted fans of the animated series think the show predicted the outbreak of the coronavirus in just its fourth season during 'Marge in Chains' which was released way back in 1993.

During the episode, a worker in Japan is shown to say 'please don't tell the supervisor I have the flu', before coughing into a box addressed to Homer.

When it arrives in Springfield, a green swarm emerges from the delivery, and similar packages containing a 'juice loosener' are then opened by Principal Skinner, and Patty and Selma, before taking over the town.

Still images of the episode have been shared on  Twitter  , leading to many saying the show creators had predicted coronavirus 27 years ago.

The Simpsons is available in its entirety on Disney+ in the UK.
