The shirt numbers available to Tomas Soucek after completing West Ham medical

Slavia Prague midfielder Tomas Soucek has passed a medical he underwent earlier on Tuesday ahead of signing for West Ham.

The Czech international midfielder is set to to sign a deal that could eventually cost West Ham around €20million and he will become David Moyes' second signing of the January transfer window following the arrival of Darren Randolph.

Moyes revealed on Tuesday why he was keen to sign the 24-year-old, saying: I think he gives us a lot of different aspects but more importantly he fits the profile of the player I want to bring to West Ham.

"I said I want to bring young players but we also need experience too and I think at the moment, he helps with both of those.

"He's captained Slavia Prague, has played defensive midfield, scored a lot of goals as an attacking midfielder too. We needed a bit of all, some cover, another midfield player, obviously goals, so at the moment he ticks a lot of boxes."

Soucek wore the number 22 shirt at Slavia Prague but that number is currently occupied in east London by club-record signing Sebastien Haller. So what other numbers are available to him?

It's not thought Soucek was registered in time for the game against Liverpool on Wednesday but could be thrown in straight from the off against Brighton at the weekend for his debut.

Moyes also confirmed on Tuesday that the club has a "solid bid" in place for another player they are targeting, but hinted that it wasn't a striker an ruled out a return for Nottingham Forest right back Matty Cash.

Another right back, Salzburg's Kristian Rasmussen, is believed to be the player the Hammers are looking at. He joined the Austrian side for €5million last July from Ajax.
