The seven teams struggling in front of goal more than Leeds United this season

Leeds United are not the only Premier League team struggling in front of goal this season, with the Whites outperforming seven other top-flight sides when it comes to taking their chances - including the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle United and Wolves.

Leeds have only scored one goal in their last five games across all competitions, with just six of their efforts finding the back of the net in the Premier League this calendar year. The Whites' struggles in the final third have become a regular occurrence and is something that Javi Gracia will be all too keen to rectify as quickly as possible.

The absence of Rodrigo - Leeds' top scorer this season - is being sorely felt. The forward has scored 12 times in 22 matches across all competitions this season; Wilfried Gnonto, Crysencio Summerville and Luis Sinisterra have all registered four goals each in joint-second to only match the former Valencia star's total.

Yet Leeds are not the worst side at taking their chances this season, with seven other Premier League teams being more wasteful in front of goal than the Whites. Research carried out by BetVictor has shown that Newcastle, Southampton, Chelsea, Wolves, Nottingham Forest, West Ham and Everton have all struggled in the final-third more than Gracia's squad.

Leeds have created an xG - expected goals, the number of goals you would expect them to score from the chances they have created this season - of 31.4, yet they have found the back of the net on just 29 occasions, suggesting they are over two goals shy of their expected total for the current campaign.

However, Everton have scored just 19 times compared to their xG of 28.4 leaving them an alarming 9.4 goals shy of their anticipated return. Chelsea and Newcastle are the only two top-half sides that come off worse than Leeds in this department, scoring 5.8 and 2.5 fewer goals than xG this season respectively.

Although this puts Leeds' current attacking issues into perspective, it will come as little comfort to Gracia who will be hard at work with his squad at Thorp Arch to improve his side's finishing in front of goal.
