The secret code at Morrisons that gets shoppers a free meal no questions asked

Morrisons is relaunching a programme that fed shoppers for free last winter as the 'Ask for Henry' initiative returns to shops next week.

From April 24 to May 7, shoppers who ask for 'Henry' at any of the 397 Morrisons cafes in the country will receive a hot jacket potato with Heinz Beanz free of charge. The offer comes after the deal first launched in October 2022.

That means anyone asking 'Is Henry here?' or 'Can I have a Henry?' or any similar request will unlock the free meal as all supermarket staff have been trained on the initiative. The offer is available all day and open to anyone for the two week period.

As the cost of living crisis grips households, Heinz says it hopes to help anyone who needs or wants the assistance, reports Wales Online.

The namesake of the initiative is Henry J Heinz, the company's founder of the iconic company and philanthropist. Born in 1844, the American entrepreneur, who is said to have shared the bounty of his family's garden with the community as a boy, was often quoted as saying "give all you can wisely".

Jojo De Noronha, President Northern Europe at Heinz, said: “Last October we launched the ‘Ask for Henry’ initiative for the first time and were blown away by the response. And that’s why we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to bring back the initiative again, available from 24 April.

"We would really encourage anyone who feels they may need or want a hot, hearty meal to take us up on this offer – it’s open to absolutely everyone, and there is plenty to go around. Whilst we know it doesn’t fix the problem, we’d love to be able to help as many people as we can in this two-week period in our own small way."
