The Script’s Danny O’Donoghue calls fan's ex-girlfriend on stage at Dublin concert

The Script’s Danny O’Donoghue took a fan's phone at their 3Arena concert and called their ex-girlfriend last night.

The frontman, along with guitarist Mark Sheehan and drummer Glen Power, sat in the crowd and sang among their admirers last night.

Danny then took to the crowd to ask if anyone near him had an ex, and said the first person to call them and hand him the phone would get the song dedicated to the person who broke their heart.

A man handed the former Voice UK judge his phone, which was calling his ex-girlfriend.

She answered and Danny said: “Hello Ems. This is Danny from the Script. We're in the 3Arena right now and a few thousand people want to say hello.

“I’m going to hand you back to your boyfriend, well, your ex-boyfriend, he’s a f**king ex now.

“Hold this now and we’re going to sing her a song, this song is called Nothing.”

The song is told from the point of view of a man who drinks a lot after his girlfriend breaks up with him.

He calls her and tells her how he feels, but the girl doesn't respond.

Performing this song to an ex of an audience member is a ritual for the band, with many other fans having the opportunity at previous concerts.

The lads are currently doing their homecoming performances at the 3Arena on 14, 15 and 16 of June.

Their tour honours everything that the trio - Danny O’Donoghue, Glen Power and Mark Sheehan - have achieved together since 2007.

Their latest album: “The ‘Tales From The Script’ album is a springboard to our next chapter, but it’s also our story so far,” according to Danny and they’re “so excited to be taking it on the road. I know I’m gonna lose it on stage, night after night.”

They are celebrating a journey that has included six number one Irish albums, five UK number one albums, six billion streams, and over two million ticket sales with a Greatest Hits Tour.

They’ve had iconic hits like “Hall of Fame” (featuring Will.i.am) and the Top 10 hit “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved”, “For The First Time” and “Superheroes”.

Their landmark music also includes “Breakeven”, their debut single “We Cry” and “Rain”.
