The Scottish restaurants named the best in Britain at prestigious food award

RESTAURANTS across Scotland have been named among the best in the UK by a prestigious national food award.

The Good Food Guide assessed eateries across the country to determine the best local joints in several British nations and regions.

Including spots in major cities like Glasgow and smaller towns like Melrose, the length and breadth of the country are represented.

Introducing the award, The Good Food Guide said: "This year, The Good Food Guide received an astonishing number of nominations from diners across the country, all keen to champion their favourite places to eat.

"An unprecedented 60,000 votes were cast, leaving the Guide’s team of expert inspectors the tasty task of anonymously eating in a vast number of restaurants across the country.

"The result is a snapshot of extraordinary local creativity and talent, personal hospitality and genuine community spirit."

One patron of the restaurant said: "Just wonderful. We've taken guests to Fin and Grape and they've all been just as delighted with the place as we are, the food, cocktails and wine are second to none.

"I'll keep coming back, even as a vegetarian: the veg options are just as good - if not better - than the fish/meat. Highly, highly recommend."

Another added: "Each course is perfectly balanced, with high-quality ingredients prepared by a chef who cooks with love and passion."
