New research has revealed that the Isle of Skye is among the best UK destinations for luxury and romantic camping this Valentine's Day.
The study, conducted by retailer GO Outdoors, found that the Scottish island is the fourth top camping destination for couples. Experts scored camping spots across the nation out of 10 based on factors like price and internet access, as well as the availability of hot tubs and adult-only campsites.
The Isle of Skye was awarded an overall score of 7.53, based on the fact that 59 per cent of campsites are open year-round, 68 per cent of sites have internet access, 18 per cent are adult-only, 64 per cent are 'peaceful', none have hot tubs, and 68 per cent are pet-friendly.
Among the most popular campsites on the island are the Portree Campsite, the Glenbrittle Campsite, and the Greshornish Campsite. A full list can be found on the Isle of Skye website.
Coming in at number one on the list is Hadrian's Wall, which was awarded an overall score of 8.60 out of 10. Rounding out the top five are Somerset and Cambridgeshire in second and third place respectively, and Gloucester in fifth.
While camping may not suit everyone, particularly over the winter, it can be a great way to experience nature. Camping with a loved one can also be a romantic Valentine's Day activity for couples who enjoy the great outdoors.
