The School for Good and Evil: NI filming locations for new Netflix movie

A new fantasy blockbuster filmed in Northern Ireland is set to be released on Netflix on Wednesday.

The School For Good and Evil is based on a best-selling series of young adult fantasy novels by Soman Chainani and follows a group of girls and boys who are taken to an institution and trained to become fairytale-like heroes and villains.

Hollywood director Paul Feig, who made Belfast his home while filming the movie, said that he would come back to film again "in a heartbeat" due to the resources of the industry.

Proving to be the perfect location to transport us to the fanstay world of hero and villains, here are the locations where The School for Good and Evil was shot in Northern Ireland:

St Anne's Cathedral, also known as Belfast Cathedral, saw famous stars such as Kerry Washington come to the Cathedral Quarter.

Big Dog Forest

Big Dog Forest near Derrygonnelly in Co Fermanagh was director Paul Feig's favourite filming location during the production.

It gets its name from the two small hills in the area known as Big Dog and Little Dog.

Clandeboye Estate

The Clandeboye Estate is a country estate in Bangor that can be found just 12 miles outside Belfast.

Covering 2,000 acres, it contains woodlands, formal and walled gardens, lawns, a lake, and 250 hectares of farmland.

Woodburn Forest

An extensive area of mainly coniferous woodlands beside the Woodburn reservoirs, near Carrickfergus.

Used to film a number of the outdoor scenes that feature in The School for Good and Evil.

Castle Archdale
