'The right solution' - Frank Lampard confirms Anthony Gordon talks after Everton transfer decision

Frank Lampard has confirmed that Everton are in talks with Anthony Gordon over a new contract. The Blues winger was heavily linked with a potential transfer to Chelsea this summer with the Londoners reportedly offering a £60million package for the 21-year-old – although at the time Lampard himself dismissed claims of such a price tag, stating: “They haven’t bid £60m, so let’s not talk about a number.”

Lampard, who handed Gordon the number 10 jersey as reward for his progress during his breakthrough campaign in 2021/22 and increased prominence in the squad, issued a hands off warning to potential suitors during Everton’s pre-season tour of the USA in July after interest from both Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur when he declared that the player “is going nowhere.” However an aggressive pursuit from Chelsea late in the window tested the resolve of Goodison Park chiefs despite an understanding that they were not interested in entertaining any bids.

He said: “The club are speaking with Anthony and Anthony’s people to see if we can get the right solution.”
