The Rhode Island Scumbag’s guide to betting the Sweet Sixteen (and thriving in Las Vegas)

This was unexpected.

Our resident grimy betting expert, the Rhode Island Scumbag, came into March with an impeachably fadeable record. His NFL locks of the week finished the season at 7-21, putting you up roughly 10 units if you managed to do the opposite of what he said each week during the season.

So when we published his guide to the 2022 NCAA tournament last week, it seemed like more ignorable advice, right? WRONG. EXTREMELY WRONG.

Instead, the first weekend of games was the backdrop for a tremendous heater. The only lock he missed was a 10:1 flier on Alabama making the Elite Eight. Laying 20+ points with Baylor? Hit (or, in his terminology, “bink”). The Miami Hurricanes on the moneyline? Bink. BETTING AGAINST A 102-YEAR-OLD NUN AND HER NATIONAL SWEETHEART SQUAD? BINK.

Or, to hear him tell it in his own words.

Overall I was +49 units in the opening weekend. I’m immersed in the gambling Twitter environment. I understand that people make claims like this all the time; trust me, I never believe them. To be honest, I don’t care if anyone reading this believes me or not. I actually hope that you followed the first Scumbag Guide to the NCAA tournament and made just as much money.

I hit two separate 10-unit bets… One on Providence vs. Richmond and a moneyline parlay with Houston and Wisconsin in Round 1 that paid out 6.5 units. I also hit an eight-unit bet on Ohio State and three separate five-unit bets on Baylor, Texas A&M (NIT) and Creighton first to 15 vs. KU.

Bedtime on night of arrival was 8:30am the following day which fell slightly over the expected total of 2am.

Drinks consumed in 48 hours fell somewhere in the range of 50-60. (there is obviously no way of having an accurate total here) but that was right around the expected total of 55.

The list ends there. That’s called a heater, bro.

Well, damn. You never leave the table in the middle of a heater. We can’t stop there. Let’s press this luck and see if the RISL applies even when he’s back in the Ocean State. And keep reading if you want his guide to Las Vegas, which is … surprisingly helpful!
