The Repair Shop fans emotional as show transforms WWII prisoner of war's boots

The Repair Shop fans teared up as they watched a pair of boots worn by a World War II prisoner of war be transformed.

In a recent episode of the BBC series, a guest brought in a pair of boots worn by his late father to be repaired.

The guest, named Malcolm, revealed his dad was a prisoner of war and was captured in Norway and imprisoned for five years.

Malcolm read segments from his father's well-kept diary - who was later freed by the American army.

When he was freed and returned home, he was able to keep his boots.

Cobbler Dean Westmoreland picked up the difficult task of restoring the weathered boots and did a fantastic job.

Viewers were in bits watching the segment and took to social media to tweet about the emotional moment.

"Item I'm getting emotional over this week? A pair of boots! But what a story they held & Dean did such an incredible job with them!," one user said.

Another posted: "I’m watching #therepairshop and I’m crying again over a pair of bloody boots!!"

"Fantastic job Dean. Those boots need treasuring forever," one user praised Dean for his hard work.

Some users wished Malcolm left the boots the way they were as they 'told a story'.

"Would make no sense making the boots look new, wear and tear tells the story," one person insisted.

Another wrote: "Those boots are fine as they are.... why tamper? They tell a story."

Earlier this month, couple Emese Carter-Whittley and Luke Carter-Whittley brought in a "precious" item to have repaired.

They had brought along a photo frame which contained ceramic footprints and a photo of their late son David, who they revealed had tragically passed away at five months old.

Emese commented about the item they had brought with them: "We would just love to see our little boy's perfect little footprints as they were."

Following the departure of Emese and Luke from the barn, Jay Blades exhaled and appeared to be composing himself after hearing about their family.

Later in the episode, Emese and Luke returned to see the repaired ceramic footprints. The couple were grateful for the restoration work that had been conducted by Kirsten.
