The Red Pepper: Popular Co Tyrone restaurant to close

A popular Co Tyrone restaurant is to close after its owners said it is no longer feasible to keep it open.

The Red Pepper in Castlederg, run by chef Colin McMenamin and wife Anne Marie, had been recognised as among one of the best in the county at the recent Irish Restaurant Awards.

In a post on social media, the owners confirmed that its last serving would be on Sunday, April 16.

“All things come to an end,” the post read.

“With everything that has played out over the last few years it’s no longer feasible for us to sustain the restaurant to the standard we have set.

“It’s been 13 years and we have taken it as far as we can… it’s time for a new chapter.

“We would like to thank all of the lovely customers that have supported us over the years and every staff member that joined us along the way.”

Colin was recognised as the ‘Local Food Hero’ for Co Tyrone during the recent awards run by the Restaurant Association of Ireland.
